CLOS DE VOUGEOT
Jean-Michel Guillon created his domaine in 1980, getting off the train from Paris without any training or qualifications. Today, Alexis his son is taking over. He has some kind guardian angels and works a little less than four "ouvrées" (traditional Burgundian measurement : 1 ouvrée is equal to 428 square metres or the area that one man could work in one day) in the Clos. Not enough to warrant a stone gateway, but sufficient to be proud of. A dark red more than cherry in colour, his 2004 vintage develops a bouquet of strawberries and raspberries as it becomes more mature. Structured and harmonious with strength of character, this wine has big things ahead of it.

GEVREY-CHAMBERTIN
Winning a Coup de Coeur last year, this wine is mentioned in glowing terms with each vintage. Alexis has joined Jean-Michel to assure the succession of this domaine of 11 hectares, which was started by renting just two and a half hectares in 1980. This Petite Chapelle inspires respect with this vintage. Deep purple, starting with cherries in the mouth and finishing with vanilla, this wine is full bodied, rich in tannin and has something to please everyone. A good wine to keep - don't touch it until at least 2008. The Cuvee Vieilles Vignes 2004 Villages (15 to 23 euros per bottle) is an equally remarkable wine.
