Each year since 1990, Domaine Jean-Michel Guillon
is selected in the Hachette Wine Guide.

Here are an extract from the Guide 2013 :

MOREY SAINT DENIS
1er Cru La Riotte

Jean-Michel Guillon was rewarded with  « un coup de cœur » for the 2008 vintage Premier Cru La Riotte. He now gets « a star » for the 2010. This Climat is located right in the heart of the appellation, just below the village. It is small (2.45 ha) and is run by a few winegrowers, 18 ares by the Guillons. The aromas of this 2010 vintage are delicate, blending light, fruity and peppery notes. The palate is elegant, round and silky. This is a meek Morey which is to be enjoyed with a red meat.

MARSANNAY CLOS DES PORTES
Monopole

Jean-Michel Guillon and his son Alexis, on the domain for seven years now, have hand-harvested this one- hectare vineyard, the monopoly of which they have. They’ve achieved a wine with a dark garnet colour and a concentrated nose of violet,red-currant and raspberry. Its mouth is full-bodied,opulent with fruity notes and a fine touch of vanilla. An elegant Marsannay to be served in two years time with a grilled flank of beef.

GEVREY CHAMBERTIN
La Petite Chapelle

Jean-Michel Guillon and his son Alexis run a 13 ha vineyard on eighteen appellations. In Gevrey, two of their wines have been selected : the Premier Cru La Petite Chapelle and La Cuvée Père Galland 2010 (from € 20 to € 30 a bottle, with a production of 4,000 bottles), a village appellation named after the wine maker who helped Jean-Michel to settle in 1980. « La Petite Chapelle » has a woody first nose and scents of black fruit after aeration. It is concentrated and fleshy, with a long and fruity finish which needs four years to soften. « Le Père Galland » is more simple and pleasant and is named today.

MAZIS CHAMBERTIN
Grand Cru

For this Grand Cru, Jean-Michel Guillon always saves one third of the grapes with their stalks, skins and pips- this proportion is not meant to be felt in the wine but it gives more depth to it. As a result, the nose of the 2010 vintage has intense, ripe or even jammed fruit aromas and its mouth, with a long finish is powerful and coated with strong and noble tannins. Fruity and already rounded, this wine will nonetheless be perfect in five years time with a jugged hare.
